My thoughts
- Fall of Capitalism
With the breaking up of the Soviet Union in 1989, heralded the end of Communism (though the system was actually a dictatorship in disguise). Now with the fall of Wall Street, me think its time to proclaim the fall of Capitalism.
Models like that used in India and China (Tightly regulated financial system and administered by the state at times with a pretty conservative approach) seems to be the way out.
Also it time to recognize the emergence of the Asian countries, pretty much the way it was during the 18th century and prior to it.
- Fall of GM
GM will file for bankruptcy soon and it was me who had predicted this way back in Mar 08 this year. Me was speaking to a client of my employer exchanging views at the dinner table and this was precisely what I said then. Seems like my thinking and predictions seem to be coming true.
It would be no surprise if GM and Ford are sold out to a European (mostly VW) or Asian (Hyundai) company, provided they are willing to fund the huge pension costs of these white elephants. If not, GM and Ford would be nationalized!! He, he, he,……. A government car in Amrica????
- Recovery will be faster
Every damn guy on TV, print and on the street says, this meltdown/slowdown or recession will last for long. No buddy, just as the meltdown/slowdown came in just a few months, this will get over soon. Max by end of 2009 or even well before this.
Lets just wait and watch

And what abt playing cricket ?
Whats all this halla gulla abt IPL, ICL ??? Seems like media (TV and print) are gung-ho about xyz crores and millions being spent on players and what not. Some are worried about whether real profit will be generated and will Malllya, Shahruk and priety make money???
Guys, one simple question ???
Isn't this all about cricket and dont we need to worry about the performance and actual playing of cricket. Seems like everyone is worried about money and not cricket.
Regularly me keep telling my team in office that in today's world trading activity is such that they buy and sell everything in this world other than human being. Now it seem like we are inching closer to it, buying and selling players for 3 yrs!!! hmm.. interesting!

Gaalipata
Hmm, though this is not a movie review, me felt like writing something about this great movie.
OK, Gaalipata in Kannada means a Kite! Somehow was able to go and watch this movie in the very first week.
One thing which struck me was (rather few things) (in random order):
- This movie will be a hit bcoz this movie has got characters, each one is its own class!!really.
This movie aint like other run on the mill where there's just a hero, dancing heroine, bad guy villain, and some extra funny and bekaar characters.
In this movie, even a PIG, yes a pig has been showcased as a character!
The characters are just great, especially that character "Dracula"
- This movie will make you laugh and cry unlike Mungaaru Male which made you only cry and hum the songs.
- The picturization is once again just great. The Mullayyanagiri mountain, the scenic Shivanasamudra falls, those coffee estates, mountain tops, the mist, the fog, just great
- The movie does not have a fight (with bad guys, villains etc)
- 2 songs are very good, pretty much in line with Mungaaru Male. I think pretty much the same tune has been used and even the base music for the songs.

Strike a day - keeps some vehicles away!
So, early part of this week, all IT and ITES companies in Bengalooru wiltered under the strike called by the transport gusy (Read yellow boards). All guys like you and me who work in IT companies (be it WITS or any other softi company) had to use our own cars or two wheelers (which everyone of us had) or gals had to get a taste of our own No.1 public transporter BMTC.
I say, that each day one section of the society in Bengalooru (whey B'lore why not entire India or the world) should go on strike. Just remember the Auto strike we had a few days ago, remember those traffic free streets OR just remember the day when these cabbies went on strike and you were able to travel to Electronic city within 30 to 40 mins from any part of town! Now thats what me coming to.
Each day if one section (described later) goes on strike we'll have free flow of traffic (remember Captain cook salt!) on the roads of Bengalooru. Really believe me.
Also keep in mind that the city policy is toying with the idea of having only odd or even numbered vehicles plying on the city roads.
So let there be a strike by
All BPO employees
All IT pepople (softies)
All Bus drivers
All Auto drivers (they do it frequently)
All Two wheelers
All Cars
All Shop keepers
All Drunkards
All Smokers
All Hoteliers
All Students
All Teachers
All Government staff (remember those deserted street in and around Vidhan Soudha)
And finally all Bloggers....!!

Media........
So now a days the media (TV, newspapers and to some extent radio) go ga-ga over something until the anchors themselves get fed up of telecasting the samething.
1. At the beginning of the year it was news about some people being ill treated at a party and this fact made them ask everybody in the coutry if Mumbai is a safe place. You fools, dont people know that all those young guys (and gals too)who go to most new year parties are drunk and hardly have any control over themselves. Do you expect this crowd to sit and just drink some orange juice??? As far as me concerned this TV walahs have got no better thing to do.
2. Just a few days later, media went ga-ga over Sachin and Laxman. If you watched the telecast, pls recollect Sachin's reaction after he scored his century. Decide for yourselves if this guy was happy that he achieved a personal record or was he happy that he contributed to the team's cause. You decide....
3. And then big bang, just bcoz few umpiring decisions were incorrect and someone was called xyzz..... whatever, why does the team need to pull out of the tour. On one of the blog (think its prem panicker) a wonderful concept has been suggested, that of protest. Protest in the sense that in the next 2 test matches the Indian team should just play without any appeal whatsoever, even if an Aussie batsmen is out the team should not appeal, just carry on playing. If at all those Aussies have got anything called sportmanship or spirit, they themselves will move out the ground and the next batsmen will come in. Why not give it a try....
4. An for the next week or so, starting 9th Jan, media will be gung ho about Tata 1 lakh car. Reviews, re-reviews and what not. Just switch on any news channel in the coming days and you'll get to see lots of fun and repeat telecasts..........
Regarding the so called controversies,
a. This car will clog and pollute out already crowded and polluted "Indian" roads. What the hell ? Aren't our roads already polluted and clogged?? Why did somebody not think of it prior to this. Its as if this new car will create all the pollution and clogging. Nonsense
Regarding pollution nobody raises their finger towards all those gas guzzling and polluting GM, Ford, Toyota, cars... How is this car different. Yes its different in the sense that per capita pollutants will be lower. Does someone recognise that???
b. This car will not meet saftey standards. Boss, the concept of this car is that it would be better than a 2 wheeler. Now till date what damn saftey did we have in a 2 wheeler. Absolutely none!!! But nobody questioned this. Why not go and catch these 2 wheeler companies starting from TVS, Bajaj to Honda and Suzuki...?? Why??

Time and Change
There used to be a time when neither me nor my friends had mobile phones, two or four wheelers, very little cash but then we would meet often, catch up with each other, sit and talk, listen, share..!!
Now pretty much after a decade or so my friends and me have quite a bit of money in our hands, mobile phones, two and four wheelers, BUT BUT BUT.............we DONT meet often, we DONT catch up with each other, we DONT sit and talk, DONT listen, we DONT care........ (though me have generalised this, this post is keeping in mind a specific set of people and not all).
What happened ???? Time changed or people changed......OR did I change ???

Movie.......eeeeeeeeee
Ha, at last even me write abt movies. Me hardly watch 2 or 3 movies in a year. Think this is the third movie which i watched this year, rather 4th.... started with Mungaru Male, then Guru, Cheeni Kum and now Krishna.
Wanted to watch the movie 'Milana' (which friends claim is a remake of Hum Dil Dechuke Sanam). However, as the only two options on sunday morning were "Aa Dinagalu" (which is a very good movie) and Krishna.
With a heavy heart bought tickets for this movie Krishna and went into Pramod theatre and to my dismay find that both the seats are in bad shape ... didnt feel like sitting. However had to settle down and once the movie started, it was fine.
The movie, me should say should go onto become a big hit atleast 50 days. Its a nice movie, can say 3.5 out of 5. The movie has a very simple story line interspersed with decent comedy and some not so good songs. Go out and watch this movie, value for money.
Again in this movie too, the director or makeup-man/wardrobe guy thinks that dressing this actor Ganesh in jazzy american looking hippy style clothes makes him look cool??? They surely seem to be out of their minds,in every damn movie they try to dress him up with those jazzy looking t-shirts, one cap, goggles, hat and bright colored trousers????? Why whats wrong with these people ? This actor looks good in any normal clothes, put them on boy.

20 - 20
So the media makes us believe everyone in this country is gung-ho about 20-20???
These TV guys have no news to report these days, hence its cricket for more than 1 week. And why are these guys going ga-ga over just one win ??? These guys won one chota mota cup, and there is victory parade for 30 kms ??? What the xxxx ? Just imagine the plight of office goers in Mumbai.
Even me watched the final match. At times felt it was match fixing. But on the other side, isn't it diffcult to convince so many players to keep their mouth shut in case of match fixing ?? How do they do it ? If there is match fixing, surely there'll be one guy or the other waiting to disclose this to the media and make money.
And whats up with these CMs ?????? Whose father what goes, seems to be the order of the day. 5 lakh for each player announced by each CM in their respective states. What for?? These guys did not go to the moon and come back ? These very guys were booed at just 6 months ago when they exited the cricket world cup in the very first round??? Where were you Mr. CM then ? Thinking of filing one RTI appplication for these freebies being handed out to players for nothing.
There were hardly anyone at the Airport to receive these players and now all of a sudden, just bcoz of a victory look how many are out there?
Just reminds me of
"In prosperity your friends know you, in adversity you know your friends"
On the other side, there are floods in various parts of south India, Bihar, North east and these media guys just dont report a single piece of news. They just report of water loggin in Kolkotta?? Which is man made.
On this regular flooding, me think that these areas which get flooded annually are the areas where rain water or excess water flows naturally. Inspite of knowing this if people grow crops and settle in this basin area, its obvious that they will lose their crop and shelter when it floods. Why doesnt the government warn these people in advance ? They spend crores of rupees on these weather dept, forecasting, ISRO, what not ??

IT Return
July 31st being the last date for filing IT returns, me waited till the last date. In the past a good friend of mine used to file my IT returns. However this time, He aint free and me decided its time me take the bull by the horn (no animal dead or alive was intended to be hurt from this). Me decided let me file my own IT return standing in the serpentine queue at the IT office.My friend had helped me by providing the relevant forms (ITR-1 and acknowledgement form, just 2 of them). Filled up the same with great ease as most of the info was available on the form 16 provided by the employer.
On 31st, me went to the IT office near Queens road to play it out. Went there early only to find that the counter would open at 10 am. However, in the meanwhile found some people standing in queues. Upon investigation found that they were standing her for getting their PAN number verified (waived for those who bring along their PAN card or a copy of the same). This got over in around 15 mins, though me shuffled between queues to stand in that queue which will take me the shortest possible time. Once done, went over to the 4th floor of the building only to find that the lift in that building runs only upto 3rd floor (how strange). Then to my amazement found a really big serpentine queue. However just sat there on the cozy sofa in the reception. Once the counter opened, me found again the queue which was the shortest, only 3 were in front of me. Got the acknowledgement within minutes and me was off to office in a jiffy. Really felt happy as earlier me had thought that this would take atleast 2-4 hours and ruin my first half of the day. In the process felt happy and saved around 250 bucks which would have otherwise been paid to some accountant or middlemen.
4 simple steps to file IT return
1. Download relevant form (ITR-1 and acknowledgement form, just 2 of them) from the internet
IT Return forms are available at this link
http://www.incometaxbangalore.org/forms/forms.htm
Estimated time : Max 10 minutes
2. Fill up the forms with the help of form 16 provided by the employer (all details required to fill up the IT form will be there in the form 16.
Estimated time : 10 mins
3. Go to the IT department office and stand in the queue for
a. Getting the PAN number verified (waived for those who bring along their PAN card or a copy of the same)
Estimated time : 15-20 mins
b. Filing the return (i.e. Get the form duly stamped and acknowledged by the IT dept)
Estimated time : 10-15 mins
Total effort = 50-60 minutes only + some travel time to the IT office
P.S: A few years ago, one of my friend's brother told me that the term "IT return" is called so, bcoz we salaried employees would have already paid tax in the form of TDS and now when we file the return, the dept (of all people) would return us the excess, hence IT Return!!!! LOL. Poor chap is a non-commerce graduate.

Mileage
Hmmm.. car, LPG, low mileage, me think, how to improve.
My car (Wagon R Duo) is yielding a mileage of around 11 km per litre of LPG in the city. On the highway depending on the length of the tour yields around 13 to 14.5 km per litre of LPG. Is there any other way of making this car yield a bit more per litre. The price of LPG has been fluctuating since last Oct as me have seen it. Its now back to last Oct levels. Mostly will increase in the near future as all oil prices go up.
Reliance petro..... are u guys listening....pump out all the gas from the KG basin and deliver it at the pumps at lower prices

Hmmm...
Hm....long time no post me...???
Its been 2 months since me got married. The feeling is nice. But nothing soooo exciting to talk about. Not to be taken in the other sense. This is my sincere opinion...Wife has been so good to me. She is getting adjusted slowly, will take more time though. The best part my parents are getting very well adjusted to wife.
At work, its just really really boring........... :-((
Nothing much to do, its tooooo boring here sitting at the top as a project manager, wonder what the previous guy used to do ??
Nothing much happening overall, getting a bit frustrated. At times feel that me not in control of things. Is it time for a job change .................

Hothhon se......
Currently i am singing this song............................ ;-)
Hothhon se chhu lo tum meraa geet amar kar do,
ban jaao meet mere, meri preet amar kar do.
Na umr kee seemaa ho, naa janmon kaa ho bandhan
jab pyaar kare koi to dekhe kewal maan,
nayee reet chalaakar tum ye reet amar kar do
Aakaash kaa sunapan mere tanaha man me,
paayal zanakaatee tum aa jaao jeewan me
saanse dekar apani sangeet amar kar do.
sangeet amar kar do mera geet amar kar do.
Jag ne chhinaa muz se, muze jo bhee lagaa pyaaraa
sab jeetaa kiye muz se, main har pal hee haaraa
tum haar ke dil apanaa, meree jeet amar kar do
Hothhon se chhu lo tum meraa geet amar kar do,
ban jaao meet mere, meri preet amar kar do.
Na umr kee seemaa ho, naa janmon kaa ho bandhan
jab pyaar kare koi to dekhe kewal maan,

Travel India..
Discvery Channel and India programs especially those travel India ones!
Me very interested in viewing those programs on discovery, travel & living and NGC where they show us around places in India. They infact show us many things which people like me never knew it existed. Its nice to watch these programs and learn about my country.But the problem is these programs are produced by foreigners. A stage has come where the foreigners are more interested about India and they show us (read Indians) about India. You might say, there are other shows on other channels which show us around India. But really compare the two and tell me which program is better. The one produced by Indians or foreigners? Its high time we knew more about our country and produced more programs which showcase the culture and diversity of our country to the world.
Me feel very ashamed when me see these programs on TV. Why dont i start producing these?

'Isms.....
Capitalistic economy vs Communist economy
Pretty much everyone knows the definitions of the 2 terms mentioned above. As far as me concerned, and that too at this point in time these 2 Isms are applicable in a different context. They are as follows:
a. Capitalism means = its free enterprise - you are free to do what you want (though some restrictions, like those from parents, friends, colleagues exist). You are a free bird (read before marriage and you are a bachelor).
b. Communism means = Every damn thing is rationed! You can eat only some much of a particular item, you can go out with you friends only for a few hours, you can go here, but not there! Every damn thing gets rationed (think of the USSR!)
Now you know what me am talking about.

DO IT ANYWAY
Around 7 years ago, me had found this on a wall hanging at my friend's house. This one had quotes from the BhagavadGita.
Me wrote this down on a piece of paper and kept carrying it all around. Infact, it appealed to me so much during that time that me even practised this for quite a while. Later realised, hey, this is infact my typical behaviour, this ain't something which me need to follow, instead me have been doing this from a long long time (though maybe not in toto). Me have put up this here with a purpose, hope the purpose is served!
DO IT ANYWAY
People are often unreasonable, illogical,
And self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you
Of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some
False friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank;
People may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
(infact, the above quote is slightly different from the one which is there in the BhagavadGita. Will try to put up the original stuff sometime next week).
